Meet Our New Apprentice... by Gareth Sefton

Here at SHW Design, we are pleased to see our team continuing to grow thanks to our fantastic apprenticeship scheme.

The development of our apprenticeship programme has followed increasing numbers of the younger generation who have chosen not to take up careers in the hospitality industry.

We hope that the attractive apprenticeship that SHW Design have created will help to encourage more young people to pursue jobs within our field and in turn, continue to grow the industry. 

With three apprentices now members of the SHW Design team, we are proud to see that we are helping these fantastic, young professionals make headway into the industry by offering the support they need through a structured apprenticeship programme. 

The latest apprentice to join the ranks is 19-years-old James Peeke who has taken on the role of Apprentice CAD Technician. 

James’ apprenticeship with SHW Design will allow him to learn how to support the team’s Design Consultants with the production of drawings and schedules, while also gaining experience in all parts of the business including SHW strategy and implementation.

This apprenticeship includes distance learning for a City and Guilds qualification, plus attendances in kitchens and manufacturers for practical experience.

New Luxury Hotel Opening Soon! by Gareth Sefton

We are in the midst of the installation for the main kitchen of a luxury hotel due to open late summer.  The installation is being managed by Hallmark Kitchens, and here you see the Bonnet bespoke cook suite, has taken its place!

Frying, whats it all about? by Gareth Sefton

Our CAD Technician Jack, attended the recent Frying training at Jestic Foodservice Equipment, led by their Culinary Director Michael Eyre. Jack learnt about various aspects incl. the fundamentals of oil, from the science behind heating it to how adding food products effects it, comparing the best methods for testing oil, the reasons behind oil testing and the best practices to help extend its life and the latest innovations in frying equipment through practical demonstrations covering open, low volume and pressure frying. Thanks for the invite Jestic, it proved to be a very informative day!
