2015 has been another good year for SHW enjoying steady growth in a market that has proved challenging economically with the global recession and we have made steps to strengthen this in 2015 so we can continue into 2016 and beyond. In 2015 we saw some key milestones each contributing to the continued growth in the future.
SHW Strategy led by Miles Berkley, provides pre design consultancy to clients assisting in them setting up the catering strategy & brief, we can also offer contract tendering, auditing and other such 'management services'. Since the formal inception in November, Miles secured his first independent commission with Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, which commences immediately after New Year.
SHW Implementation led by Michael Bennett, picks up on a service that Ken has been offering his long standing client Alan Yau, with Procurement and Project Management consultancy. Our recent completion of The Fat Duck refurbishment was done in this way and to great success with positive feedback from client, design team and manufacturers.
In the South West, Derek White, continues forging long standing relationships with clients, Exclusive Hotels and The Mogford Group. Derek is now on the 3rd project for Exclusive Hotels (Lainston House, Manor House and South Lodge Hotels) and 2nd for Mogford (The Old Parsonage and Quod Hotels).
SHW Dubai has completed some significant projects in Four Seasons Hotel, DIFC and Pots, Pans and Boards for Tom Aikens. With a number due to complete in 2016 including, Louvre Museum - Abu Dhabi, Madinat Jumeirah and Totora Peruvian Restaurant. We are also collaborating on two new openings for The Galvin Brothers, Demoiselle, a French café/bakery and Galvin Dubai, fine dining and bar in the City Walk II development.
Here in the UK we have seen the completion of our 7th restaurant for Corbin & King, Bellanger, Indigo at One Aldwych, The Kennel Club, Gibson Dunn, Rio Tinto and Burberry café. 2016 will see the completion of Tate Modern 1 & 2, Four Seasons at 10 Trinity Square, Jason Atherton's Sosharu, Busaba Manchester and the Mandrake Hotel London. We also carry a healthy work on books list incl. Eurostar, Oberoi New Delhi, One & Only Montenegro, Margot Restaurant, Mandarin Oriental Dubai, The Old Town Hall, Bromley and Nova by D&D.
We have also welcomed a new colleague to the team, Jack, joined us in September as our first apprentice CAD Technician, and on the 4th Jan we welcome our next with Kaj, joining us as a design consultant to start the New Year. Unfortunately, we have also had to say good bye to Reynold, having worked with us for 6 years in Dubai, and on the 14th Jan, Annika leaves for a new adventure in new Zealand. We wish starters and leavers good luck for the future, and in the case of Reynold and Annika thank you for your help whilst with us.
The most significant development in 2015, was the buy out agreement between Derek, Ken and myself. This will transfer the ownership of SHW UK to me over a time period and starting a new chapter in SHW. I cannot thank Derek and Ken enough for helping towards achieving this, they will be missed, but I hope they will be around to help out when needed!
I would like to finish by saying Thank You to you all, the success of SHW is down to you.
Merry Christmas and best of luck for the New Year.
Gareth.
